How to Incorporate Marquee Lights Into Your Wedding

February 23, 2016

Marquee lights have been making a comeback on the wedding scene in a big way—and we mean that literally! Oversized marquee letters are a major wedding trend in 2016, as are their scaled-down marquee light counterparts. We love seeing how brides transform our space into their own unique style with personalized décor items, including these on-trend marquee letters. Here are a few of our top favorite ways to use marquee lighting at your modern Dallas wedding venue:

  • Go small: use smaller-sized letters for a cohesive look throughout your venue. These make perfect table-toppers, so consider adding your new monogram or initial to the cake display. If you really want to go all-out, customize a group of letters to a special location (“cheers” at the bar or “welcome” near the entrance). Grouped with votives and florals, an ampersand marquee makes a great centerpiece for all your tables. We also love the idea of using marquee letters near picture frames of the couple and their families… spell out your new last name, or group your initials with an ampersand.
  • Go big: oversized marquee letters are getting more and more popular for 2016. Some companies offer letters over three feet tall! We love seeing these setting the tone out on the dance floor, or making a grand statement near the entrance to the reception. Since oversized letters already make a big statement, stick to simple words like LOVE, I DO, or your initials.
  • Overhead: Marquee bulbs don’t have to be arranged in letters! Consider adding romantic lighting to any wedding by hanging string marquee bulbs overhead. An event stylist can help you execute this vision with additional soft elements like fabric draping or florals.
  • Photo Booth: if you go for marquee letters, don’t miss out on all the resulting photo ops! One way to put your marquee letters in the spotlight is to use them in your photo booth. Guests will love posing with this personalized touch to your wedding day.

One of the things we love most about marquee letters is their versatility—they can fit well with a variety of wedding themes. Our modern Dallas wedding venue space’s easily customizable layout allows brides with any wedding idea to execute their creative vision, so we love seeing how brides put a unique twist on wedding trends. Whether modern glam, rustic charm, or modern industrial, any bride can incorporate marquee letters in a way that suits her wedding theme!

How will you use your marquee lighting? We’d love to hear about your creative vision. Let’s talk about your big day. Get in touch here!

Best Note Cards for Popping the Question to your Bridesmaids!

February 17, 2016

Recently engaged? Congratulations! We are so excited to see our newsfeeds filling up with happy couples and stunning diamonds. We know there are a million things on a modern bride’s wedding checklist, but there’s one you should consider taking care of soon: asking your bridesmaids! Among all the other top-priority to-dos, this one is an absolute must because it makes every other task a little bit easier. Gathering up your loved ones—whether sisters, cousins, or friends—is the perfect way to kick off the planning process and ensure you have a team of helpers at your disposal moving forward. They can accompany you to your DFW wedding venue tour, ooh and ahh over your dress, and give moral support wherever needed. Plus, asking your girls is fun!

Here are our top favorite notecards for popping the question to your bridesmaids:

  •  Rifle Paper Co (via Paper Source): One of our all-time favorite cards. With a floral design and brush lettering, this note will make a sweet surprise for your bridesmaids.

  •  Mean Girls inspired card (Paper Tie Affair on Etsy): For a more humorous approach, you can’t go wrong with a dose of Regina George. “First of all, you’re like, really pretty!”… “Second, will you be my bridesmaid?”

  • Balloon cards (Not on the High Street):  Get creative by asking your girls with a balloon! Customizable by color, these sure make a fun treat in the mailbox. You’re More than a Guest so Please Say Yes.

  • Floral Freebies: That’s right, free! It’s hard to go astray with a free printable option.  Lia Griffith blew us away with these cute digital downloads.

  • Beautiful bridesmaids (BHLDN): What’s not to love about blush tones and watercolor? Check out these gorgeous cards from Anthropologie’s bridal line, BHLDN:

Whether you send your note cards via snail mail, include them in gift boxes (pop the question with by popping a mini bottle of bubbly!), or have all your maids-to-be open them together over brunch, a personalized note card will make every bridesmaid feel acknowledged and special.

Which note cards did you choose? We can’t wait to hear all about it! Stop by our DFW wedding venue and fill us in on all the details.

Valentine’s is around the corner! Romantic elements you can incorporate at your DFW wedding venue

February 4, 2016

It’s officially February, so love is in the air—and not just for our brides! With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, everyone is feeling a little more romantic. We’ve been inspired by Valentine’s Day to find romantic elements that our newlyweds can incorporate into their special day, in any season. Our DFW wedding venue can be transformed into a romantic setting on any day of the year!

A few romantic touches on your special day will go a long way. Take a peek at a few of our favorite Valentine’s Day-inspired elements:

  • Candles: Candles are one of the most romantic décor items you can add to your wedding day. Create dimension on your tablescapes with pillar candles of different heights, or give florals a magical glow with twinkling tea lights.
  • Lighting: pretty lighting can really set the mood at your DFW wedding venue. Add twinkling string lights or soft luminaries for a romantic glow throughout your reception area. Soft lights overhead and on your tablescapes will create an ephemeral feel you and your guests will love.
  • Chocolate: we definitely believe in chocolate year-round, not just during the Valentine’s season. While most couples incorporate chocolate into their groom cake, get creative about romantic ways to bring this sweet treat into your reception. Chocolate-covered strawberries make delectable hors d’oeuvres, or you can pull out all the stops with a late night chocolate candy bar that will blow your guests away.
  • Roses: who says roses are only appropriate on February 14? We love this traditional bloom year-round, in every hue. Red roses make a dramatic statement, while white offer a more subtle element of romance. Originally, in Victorian times, red roses signified love, beauty and passion; on the other hand, white roses indicated “happy love.” In 2016, we’re seeing trends toward large full blooms grouped with luscious greenery. Roses of any style are sure to make a romantic statement!

These items are the perfect way to bring the romantic atmosphere of Valentine’s Day to your own wedding. Celebrate the love you share with elements that speak to the romance of the occasion. No matter when you tie the knot, the day is sure to be a romantic one! And to all of our engaged couples and newlyweds, happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you enjoy a sweet holiday together.
