Our DFW Wedding Venue is the perfect blank canvas for any wedding! We have created our venue with white walls, soaring ceilings, and an open layout concept so that you can make our space what you want out of your wedding! Because of the ability to decorate however you’d like, we love looking through the wedding trends of each year to be able to see what we might have at our venue in the coming year! Here are some 2020 wedding trends that we think would look amazing in our wedding venue!

The maximalist trend is a newer trend that we started to see in 2019, but that is definitely carrying over. This trend includes everything from floral arches to hanging floral arrangements, giant balloons, greenery walls, neons, and lights. You can make this trend fit your style so easily. We love it for our space because of our open layout. Our large space will make it feel maximalist, but not cluttered.

Excessive string lighting is also in for this year! Whether you use Edison bulbs throughout your decor, a twinkle light wall, or any other extra lighting, this trend adds a pop to any wedding decor! This would look great inside or outside at our venue.

Modern twists on classic wedding cakes are also coming in hot for 2020! This can include using clear layers between layers of the cake to highlight the cake by using acrylic boxes or cylinders. Another modern twist on the classic cake is not having a real cake at all! Instead of a cake, have a grazing table with a stack of cheeses in the shape of a stacked cake. This is a unique option, but one that will be thoroughly loved. Charcuterie boards are so in and this is just the next step up.

There are many people that you can look to in your life to officiate your wedding, especially now that you can get your license to officiate online decently easily. Take a look at some potential ideas for your upcoming wedding.

If you’re religious, think about asking one of your childhood pastors that have known you for your entire life. You can also ask your current pastor that knows both of you well. This will make it so that no one is talked about more and your journey as a couple will be talked about in their speech.

If you went to premarital counseling and got close to your counselor, ask them! This is a normal practice and will mean a lot to you since you have just shared so much time and emotional energy with this person. It will be the perfect full-circle moment to your premarital counseling experience.

Want to go a little non-traditional? Ask a family member to officiate your wedding! Maybe one of you has always dreamed of having your aunt or cousin that is your best friend officiate your wedding, just make that dream a reality! The worst that a person can say is no, so just ask because more than likely they will be so happy for this honor.

Last but not least, ask a friend! If the two of you have a mutual friend that knows both of you really well and has been there throughout your relationship, ask this friend to officiate rather than having them in the wedding party! This will be incredibly special to all three of you in the moment and years down the line.

Looking for inspiration for your spring wedding at our unique Dallas wedding venue? Here’s a couple of the trends that are coming up this season that you should not only be on a lookout for but use in your wedding!

  • Use art as inspiration throughout your ceremony and reception. Choose your favorite painting or a series of paintings and use this color palette or patterns from it throughout your wedding. Whether that means that you use these as table runners, photo backdrops, or anything else, this will add a stunning touch to your wedding day. This trend is still gaining popularity, so you will be one of the first to do it at your spring 2020 wedding!
  • Ditch the pastel colors for spring and go for bold colors! Use bright yellows, deep purples, fuschias. Don’t be afraid to use color bravely throughout your wedding, whether it be in decor or in bridesmaids dresses.
  • Sustainability is in this season, and hopefully, will continue to stay in! Use sustainability throughout your wedding by reusing florals from your ceremony to your reception, using decor that you already own, or making your own decor! With florals, you can also choose in-season florals! This helps with lowering shipping throughout your wedding.
  • If sharing your own vows in front of everyone makes you nervous and you plan on doing traditional vows, think about exchanging private vows before the ceremony! This will create a special moment for you that you will always cherish. This can be done during your first look or if you don’t want a first look, you can do this on either side of a wall so you just hear the vows. The pictures that you will get from this will be special forever.

When you are searching for a wedding venue, it is important to have questions to ask about on your tours at The Empire Room! Not only should you have questions ready, but you should know a few details that will make or break certain venues. This will automatically narrow your list down and make the search easier for you! As the best Dallas wedding venue, we wanted to share these questions with you!

Be sure to know an approximate headcount for your wedding so that when you ask about the number of guests the venue can hold, you know how that number matches up to your estimate! You don’t want to fall in love with a venue that only holds 150 guests when you have an approximate headcount of 300. to be upfront with our answers to these questions, The Empire Room Dallas, we hold up to 300 guests at our venue.

Be sure to ask what is included in the venue! Most venues include chairs, but some don’t. The same about tables is true. You’ll want to make sure that there are plenty of perks within your pricing at each venue that you tour. You don’t want to end up spending the same amount on a venue that has no amenities as one that would.   • The biggest perk of having an indoor/outdoor wedding venue is having the safety net to move your wedding, ceremony, or cocktail hour inside in the case of a weather change. If you have your wedding at an all outdoor venue, you don’t have the option to move it inside in the case of bad weather. No one wants to plan their whole wedding outdoors for it to rain the entire day.
  • On the other hand, you simply have the option of having any of your wedding events outside! If the weather is nice, it would be amazing to have your reception or cocktail hour on a beautiful patio with views overlooking Dallas. An outdoor space adds to any experience, weddings included.

At our Dallas venue, catering is done by our exclusive caterer, Gil’s Elegant Catering. Gil’s is a phenomenal caterer that we know will make the food at your wedding or event as perfect as you have been imagining it being. They have so many options for great food to be served, as well as, packages for how it will be served to you and your guests!

We have four packages to choose from ranging from $60 to $82 per person. Through Gil’s, you can choose a silver buffet or a gold buffet; these are package options one and two, and are amazing choices if you are wanting a buffet. Package three is an action station package. This makes your guests have a more personalized food experience! Package four is a plated dinner!  If you don’t want your guests to have to do any work to get their food, a plated dinner is the best choice!

These all come with two passed canapés of your choosing during cocktail hour, coffee, and iced tea. The china, glassware, silverware, and napkins are also included in the cost per person! You won’t have to worry about any of the little things with our in-house, exclusive catering. Us and Gil’s Elegant Catering love being able to provide all of the details for your event.

What questions should you ask before booking your downtown Dallas venue and on your venue tour? There are plenty to ask, but we think these are some of the questions that you definitely shouldn’t forget about.

Is the venue available on my target date?

This is an important question because you need to be sure right away that the venue is available when you want it to be. You don’t want to fall in love with a venue then be told that it’s not available on the date that you have been planning on!

What is the capacity of the venue?

This one is so important, especially if you’ve always dreamed of a large wedding. You want to make sure that you won’t have to cut corners on your guests list if you don’t want to.

Do you have exclusive vendors?

Be sure to ask if there is a preferred vendors list, or even if the venue has exclusive vendors. This question is especially important if you want a specific caterer or vendor for your event. At The Empire Room, we have two preferred vendors: our caterer, Gil’s Elegant Catering and our AV friends, Astounding Sound & Lighting.

Do the rates change throughout the week and seasons?

Make sure that you ask if there are different rates throughout the year, and even throughout the week! If you are on more of a budget, take this tip into consideration. You can typically save a lot of money by having your wedding in an off season, or even just on a weekday.
