3 Exquisite 2015 Wedding Trends

July 31, 2015

According to the wedding experts, the industrial-style wedding is in and isn’t going anywhere for a while. Exposed ceilings, string lights, concrete and brick walls are all character of this style, so if you can find the space, you are already half way there. At our converted Design District warehouse venue, you will certainly be able to achieve this exquisite and mod metallic trend.

Also, a wedding food trend, the tasting station, is hip this year. From an article by Chicago wedding planner, Shannon Gail, we will look at some of her top words of advice on how to design a 2015 “fashion-forward wedding” with style and food that says “Wow!”

1. Tasting stations: Instead of having waiters wandering around with trays, try this new food trend that lets you and your guests test your taste buds. Assortments of cheese, macaroni, olive oil and sourdough bread, chocolate truffles, or gourmet popcorn are some popular choices.

2. Copper and other metallic accents and furnishings: Think linens, lighting, place cards, and your wedding cake all in metallic. For a classic industrial vibe, decorating with antique Edison light bulbs in metallic, industrial chandeliers will create the perfect modern ambiance.

3. Industrial interiors: and venues such as breweries, art galleries, and remodeled warehouses serve as excellent blank canvases for this look. Generally, these venues are more spacious and a bit more versatile when it comes to placement of tables, lounge areas, and additional wedding setups.

Trendy and Useful Wedding Favors

July 16, 2015

There are so many little things you can do to express your appreciation and love, and when it comes to wedding favors, there are quite a few possibilities. Succulents in jars and seeds to grow flowers are indeed lovely ideas, but useful wedding favors that people can eat or use right away are more worthy of praise. Think of some of these ideas as mini care packages for your guests that will help ensure comfortable, relaxing, safe travels back home after celebrating your big day.

  1. Sunglasses and SPF 50: To help beat the hot Texas summer heat, a pair of sunglasses that have your wedding slogan on them along with some SPF will insure tan lines, not sunburns.

  1. The super snack pack: Display an assortment of chilled, customized, bottled sodas alongside special made wedding koozies, and a healthy granola bar for your guests on the go.

  1. Mini champagne bottles: For keepsakes and especially if  your guests aren’t driving back that evening and everyone is staying in the same hotel, have these chilled and ready to keep the celebration going a little bit longer into the night.

  1. USB flash drives: For the tech lovers that may need to share files or have some extra storage space, flash drives are very handy indeed. 4 GB flash drives start around $5 at Wal-Mart.
  1. Decorative candy boxes: Tied up with satin ribbon or your own personal pick, an assortment of chocolate truffles in a little box is simple, sweet, delectable, and just right to satisfy a sweet tooth.

  1. A post-wedding relaxation kit: Combine spa-worthy, travel size eucalyptus or lavender scented lotion, cleansing makeup removal towelettes, and a back scratcher together in a care package that refreshes and awakens the senses.

Wedding Decorations for a Large Venue

The Empire Room - Dallas TX Wedding Venue

Ceremony Facing Gray Drapes

In a spacious venue with high ceilings, concrete flooring, and white walls all around, you may think that there is so much to be done in order to make the space warm and welcoming for your wedding. In fact, a blank canvas like this is actually perfect for making the space your own and creating a hip and modern look.

Some of the best ways to beautify an industrial-style interior with open ceilings and exposed structures is to add warmth with lighting techniques. As for the Empire Room in Dallas, the AV lighting is done by Astounding Sounds and they use spotlighting techniques to add depth and color to the white walls and curtains. Depending on your wedding’s theme, you can certainly pick your spotlight color to coordinate.

Specifically at the Empire Room, there are white linens draped from the exposed ceiling structures that create a flowing canopy effect. This is excellent for additional ambiance and is also good for room acoustics. For extra glimmer and decoration, try adding long beaded curtain walls, metallic linens, shag rugs for a shabby-chic look, or chandeliers for additional lighting and elegance.
